To promote transparency and accountability to Beach Community Church, this report is provided. For a full report, contact Kristi (church secretary).
The new year brought in new members of your association board. Kristi Akin, Carlos Casco, Mark Bjorkland and Jensi Nunez joined EJ Avery, John Walker and myself to serve.
We started out with a quick look at some heavenly wisdom from the book of Nehemiah:
- A heart to serve, be fully committed to His Kingdom’s work
- Take precautions to prevent problems where possible.
- Turn to God for help when facing issues (seek heavenly wisdom)
- Help and encourage one another.
The board nominated and voted for the following positions:
President – Perry, VP- Carlos, Secretary – John and Treasurer – Kristi. Vocals: Jensi, EJ and Mark. Steve Myrick was elected as the La Fiscalia (Spanish, English – the prosecutor).
Different needs and concerns that we discussed were as follows:
- Review of the role of the association council as per our by-laws. This will be a constant reminder to us concerning our actual role serving on this board.
- Spanish Pastor search committee report and the need for an interim pastor (elders are proceeding with this)
- Having a lawyer come visit and give the legal requirements of an association board in Costa Rica (will be addressed at another time)
- We went over the budget for 2023 and discussed the expenses from December 2022. Discussion was held concerning the best way to distribute monies to the various teachers to cover material needs. Also thoughts of the Emergency stimulation fund were discussed.
- Need for consistent bus drivers for the Spanish services/studies is an issue.
- Nursery needs
- We discussed the medical needs of a new attendee and sought further information from his medical team.
It is refreshing to be serving with others with a goal for unity and God’s kingdom work. The Lord continues to bless BCC as we in turn love Him and join Him in HIs redemptive work within our community.
